Nanjing May 2007

Finally made it to Nanjing in May. Only a 2 hour train ride on the new 'bullet' trains. They have a sensibly priced little shop on - beer costs the same as it does in normal shops.

Nanjing feels like a city, compared to Suzhou's 'town' feel. There's a park right in the middle of the town and the famous Purple Mountain is only a 20 minute bus ride away. It's got a good feeling of space and country side and has some good bars and restaurants as well.

Nanjing's double decker bridge - train and road. Notable because it was the first major construction project finished by the Chinese Communist Party without Russian assistance.
